How It Works

How WhatsApp pricing works.

Per message, not per conversation

Since July 2025, Meta charges for each delivered template message. The old 24-hour conversation bundles are gone.

Category sets the price

Marketing templates (broadcasts, promotions) cost the most. Utility templates (order updates), authentication (OTP costs), and service replies are 70–90% cheaper in the same market.

Replies are free (for now)

Today, replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are free. From Oct 1, 2026, Meta begins charging for these.

Rates change quarterly

Meta can update rate cards on Jan 1, Apr 1, Jul 1, and Oct 1 - usually announced weeks in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a WhatsApp message cost in 2026?
A WhatsApp Business message costs between $0.0008 and $0.16 per delivered message in 2026, depending on category and country. Marketing templates cost the most, from $0.011 in India and Turkey up to $0.16 in the Netherlands. Utility and authentication templates are 70–90% cheaper, as low as $0.0008 in Colombia. Service replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are free until October 1, 2026.
Are WhatsApp Business messages free within 24 hours?
Yes, until October 1, 2026. When a customer messages your business, a 24-hour customer service window opens; all free-form replies and utility/authentication templates sent inside that window are free today, and only marketing templates are always charged. From Oct 1, 2026, Meta begins charging for service messages and utility templates sent inside that 24-hour window, at the utility rate for your market.
What is the difference between marketing, utility, and authentication messages?
Marketing templates promote products, offers, or announcements - the most expensive category. Utility templates relate to an agreed transaction such as order confirmations, delivery updates, or payment reminders. Authentication templates deliver one-time passcodes (OTPs) and login codes - the cheapest. Meta reviews and categorizes every template, and each category has its own per-message rate.
When does Meta change WhatsApp API prices?
Meta updates WhatsApp Business API rate cards on the first day of each quarter - January 1, April 1, July 1, and October 1 - and typically announces changes weeks in advance. This calculator shows both the current rate card and any announced upcoming card so you can budget before changes take effect. The next confirmed change lands on October 1, 2026.
Do WhatsApp API providers charge more than Meta's rates?
Most WhatsApp Business Solution Providers (BSPs) add a per-message markup of 10–30% on top of Meta's rates, or bundle messaging into opaque plans. Peach passes Meta's rates through at cost with no per-message markup - you pay Meta's price plus a flat platform fee. See Peach pricing or compare against other providers.
Which country's rate applies to my messages?
Two things determine the rate: your billing country (where your WhatsApp Business Account is registered, which sets your rate card currency) and the recipient's country code (which sets the per-market price). This calculator assumes you're sending to recipients in the selected market, but Meta's official rate cards let you look up any billing-country to recipient-country combination. Countries without a dedicated rate map to a regional "Rest of" rate or "Other".
